About Me

Who am I?

My name is Souporno Ghosh, but I maintain my online presence as The Anonymous Man (Not so anonymous now, am I?). I am also known as Raymond Edmund in certain circles. I am a video game designer and developer.

Check out my best works here. Check out all my works here. Among other stuff.

Did you make this website on your own?

No no no no no no! Not this one. This one was with help from WordPress. I needed something that I could edit fast. There is however another site that used to be my old (like ancient) portfolio, The Anonymous Man, that I did make from scratch, using React, CSS, and Bootstrap. I had some help with the design of the webpage but all of it was made by me. I am familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, etc. I can even host them in multiple places including AWS, GCP, etc. This one is hosted on Github.io, because Github.io is cost-effective. I update it only after I make truly worthwhile games, though.

You mentioned that you do other stuff. What is this other stuff?

  • Making Websites
  • Programming in various languages and exploring said languages
  • Machine Learning with Python
  • Drawing cartoons and animation, once in a while

What would you like to say to everyone?

Something I told myself when I first started drawing cartoons.

You will get better with practice
A cartoon I drew. “Le Moi drawing Le Moi”

My History

I have been wanting to be a video game developer since as long as I can remember. My dream first came true when my best friend introduced me to a course online on video game development. Truly, you can learn anything online these days. I made three games as part of a project for that course. And that is how I began. This was in 2018. I then didn’t find the time to actually make a game of my own, unfortunately, because college took a significant amount of my time. So, I had ideas for games, but nothing to show for it. That was suboptimal.

The next chapter of my life pertaining to video games came in 2019 when I heard of the Global Game Jam. That was my first Game Jam. And my first time making a complete game, that can be played, and that was my own design. (I had made one ludo app before that.) I learnt two things. The first one was, I did something with 100% focus in 48 hours that I couldn’t for months. The second one was, I learnt way more than I did in 2 years than I did in those 2 days. After that, I participate in any Game Jam I can. I am also one of the founding members of the GCELT Tech Club, which is my college’s Tech Club, and the mentor of the Game Design and Development Track of the club.

I was a grad student at USC in their Games Program, where I pursued an MS in CS. I took classes in both Game Design and Development. My favorite course was Interactive Design and Production, taught by Richard Lemarchand—a course I highly recommended to anyone interested in the field.

During my studies, I worked on multiple projects. I directed a research project in Conversation AI and Game Design called Small Talk and served as the lead engineer for Machine Heart, a 2.5D Puzzle Exploration game.

Currently, I am a Technical Game Designer at Convai. Here as the lead game designer for Project Neural Nexus, Convai’s flagship demo showcased at GDC 2024, I demonstrated how conversational and generative AI could enhance player immersion by creating a more natural and realistic game world. Through AI-driven NPCs capable of engaging freely with players and each other, I crafted a narrative experience where players could gather world lore both directly and indirectly, fostering a deep sense of realism. I designed dialogue content to balance critical and incidental information, maintaining immersion and player agency, while guiding the story to ensure a meaningful and intended player experience.

All the games I have ever made can be found here. Play them, and tell me what you think of them.
